$200 MILLION CHALLENGE:

Prior to 1980, more than 125 countries were Polio endemic.

1,000 people a day mostly children died or were crippled for life.

In 1985 rotary launched its multi-million dollar polio eradication fund raising program.

The eradication program aimed at immunizing all children in the world.

For over 20 years, Rotary, the World Health Organization, The Centre for Disease Control and Unicef have worked cooperatively to eradicate polio globally.

Rotary has contributed U.S. $800 million to this quest. Two billion children have been vaccinated since 1985.

Reported polio cases have dropped from 350,000 a year in 1988 to under 2,000 annually.

·        Only four countries remain endemic: Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan

·        We are on the threshold of defeating polio but money is urgently needed.

·        Bill and Melinda gates have donated U.S.$355million to end Polio now

Rotary has made a commitment to the Gates’ family to raise a further U.S.$200 million, to supplement their donation.

We need your help - donate now!
